Young hair problems?
Get a pomade that adds moisture - like Aveda Humectant - and emulsify about a nickel sized amount in hands then run through her hair after washing it with a detangling shampoo and conditioner - a good one is Redken Extreme. It should be no problem to brush through afterwards - just be sure to use a wide tooth comb!

Young hair problems?
y does the fact if she is black or not even matter? any way try washing it and brushing IT while shes in the bath with conditioner and then when she gets out just stroke a towel through it then brush it and then braid it wo it doesnt get nappy

Young hair problems?
It matters because people of different ethnicities have different hair textures.
Young hair problems?
this is how my hair is. I am fourteen and I have learned to deal with it. I brush it when it is wet and use a lot of detangler. I use something called cowboy magic (yes it is made for horses, but it works) and I actually did do a chemical straighterner on it for two years, and it completely ruined my hair and it fell out and was a complete disaster. So if you do decide to giver her a relaxer, I suggest you choose a hairdresser who had ethnic hair herself, so she truly know what she is doing. Also, you neice is only four, her hair may durastically change as she hits puberty and had hormones. I suggest you just fight through it.
Good luck :)
Young hair problems?
No ....unfortunately chemicals do not work on young children as they do on adults....As a hairdresser we do not do any chemicals on children till puberty hits, as chemicals on young people can do a reverse thing....(like you can do a relaxer on Monday and if you shampoo on Thursday she could go back to curly and nappy) Sometimes the chemical only works temporarily, because of the changes in a young ones body. So all you could be doing is making her hair worse.
