Question about African American hair....?

I just came out of the shower from washing my hair and I'm feelin lazy... Is it ok to let my hair air dry? Lots of black girls say not to but why? Will my hair break? I'm half black half white, but trust me- I have some nappy hair! lol

Question about African American hair....?

No if you blow dry it all the time that will make your hair break and get all dried out, after you shampoo your hair you should deep condition it with a really good moisturizer and left it sit for about 10 to 15 Min's or more then rinse out with warm water, towel dry it grease your scalp comb and brush your hair out and put it up in a pony tail Brade it and let it dry for the night. Also if you wanna dry your hair go buy a sit under dryer at sally's they are cheap, they are like $40 it's way better then blow drying trust me, and you should also get a hott comb and straighting it out when your hair is dry or if you don't know how get some one to do it for you this will help you al ot . even try going to the salon ever 2 weeks they will take good care of your hair, I suggest you buy moisturizes at Sally's hair store. God bless. One more thing when you let the conditioner sit get a plastic cap and put it over your head and let it sit while you clean or cook or watch TV and then it will be time to rinse it out. their is this shampoo and conditioner called Silk Elements, or PANTENE Pro- V Relaxed%26amp; Natural for women of color, their is this deep conditioner that I use called"tea tree" you can buy any one you want but use this after you shampoo and condition your hair and then let it sit and rinse out good luck. P.S. you can find alll those products at Sally's and ask for black hair treatment.

Question about African American hair....?

It's always better to let your hair air dry. Putting heat on it can damage it so it is better to stay away from blow dryers and stuff. Heat can break you hair, air does nothing to it.

Question about African American hair....?

Well this is my perspective I have been letting my hair air dry for years and I have no problem with breakage or anything of that nature the only problem is is that if you wanted to style your hair it wont last very long I have worked in Cosmetology for 5 years and haven't quit had any problems with air drying if anything blow drying does cause over drying or some form of breakage as leaving it wet try to put some form of leave in conditioner that will benefit u more hope this helps

Question about African American hair....?

Moisture will cause African American hair to become "tighter" (kinkier).

Question about African American hair....?

Wash it, condition it, spray it with a kiddie detangler, and then let it air dry. You may even wanna add some hair gel to keep the puffiness down.

I agree, too much heat can ruin it.

Question about African American hair....?

Yes it's ok i'm mixed aswell. You should use some type of oil to help keep it moist and try brushing alot more those days you don't want to style it. There's some great brushing tecniques in this book at http://how2getwaves.com my friends use it and thier hair stays looking healthy.
