Why iz it....?

that we (African Americans) have a different texture than most ethinc groups.

P.S.: it really insults me using the term "black people hair." I learned that there is no such thing as black people hair. If you start from birth and do nothing to it( no relaxer or perm), it comes out curly. if you leave it unrelaxed until you get older, it will be longer and smoother when you get older. However, since i live in the south (Georgia) and it is usually hotter than a ********** down here, most AA's don't know how do their hair, so it turns out badly and that's what gives people the perception that black people have bad hair.

Personally, my hair is normal. When i wash it and immediatly blow dry it, it turns out curly and i wear it like that. But if it relax it, wrap it, and style, it turns out nice and smooth. I just had to get that off my chest, because that one day i wore my hair curly and my friend said i had that "nappy black folks hair " i was insulted. But i did my hair later, and...

Why iz it....?

It's just b/c our hair is a littIe more different to manage without the relaxer but join our hair blogs%26amp; forum %26amp; see some of the pics we've posted of going natural "Our Hair Journey" after some of the members and found out what chemicals have %26amp; are doing to our hair. You wouldn't believe statistcs show some even african hair products are CANCEROUS that's what really woke me up knowing some of the stuff we put on our hair is being tested on poor little animals. And I do understand your feelings for your friend but please don't take this in a harmful way I'm saying this b/c I get that same saying to me about what am I going to do to my hair before any special events. As a joke back to her just say with a smile you are happy %26amp; nappy because I say that to my husband, my aunt %26amp; my cousins when they tell me "you're not going any where with me until you do something to your head", I just laugh.I have now went from relaxed hair back to my Nappy Nappturality Hair and actually my hair has grew healthier and all the damaged chemical process is gone, the shedding and my scalp feels a whole lot better.I'm a stylist of 20+ yrs but 15 years legally and 1 yrs of natural.I'm pride of my God given hair ! I love Hair %26amp; people Hair stories

Why iz it....?

idk im 1/2 blk and 1/2 white so my hair has loose frizzy thick straw-like curls. i wear mine curly and it looks fine but african american hair is like that because of the climate in africa and thats how it turned out somehow. idk google it.

Why iz it....?

If you don't use shampoo %26amp; conditioner i would recomend it. also blowdryers are damaging your hair.

Why iz it....?

I am a hair stylist. It is because people are ignorant. I used to go through that all the time. My hair used to be extremely kinky and then my mom relaxed it because she thought she knew what she was doing, but she didn't. I had to go to 3 stylists before one knew how to handle it. Blow-dryers do not ruin your hair. Hair get damaged because people think they know what they are dong and don't. I try to educate people everyday.
