I never relaxed my hair before and its extremely curly and puffy. Is relaxing permanent?

I always have a hard time fixing my hair. After my hair is washed and it starts to dry..it gets puffy and nappy%26gt;.%26lt; its so hard to brush...so I have an appointment tomorrow and i need some answers....How long does it last until it turns curly again? If i wash it afterwards would it turn back curly?

My best friend has natural ringlet curls and has the same problem. She has had it chemically straightened and said that yes it is permanent (depending on the kind you get and it's expensive! No it won't go back to being curly when you wash it) but that once your hair starts to grow your gonna have some probs. It will be curly on top and sraight at the bottom. Can get kinda crazy and probably pretty exspensive. I guess it all depends on how much u wanna spend.

Yes it is permanent. If you want the option of going between straight and curly, then I'd suggest texturising your hair. You do it at the salon and it just releases the curl rather than take it out altogether. When you want it straight you can flat iron it or blow dry it with a round brush, and when you want it curly, just wet it and put in one of those curl enhancing creams. It's the absolute coolest! I got turned on to it by a really great hairstylist I met in New York. The best part is less harsh on hair!!!

No, it's not permanent! My wife was a beautician. In time the perm will grow out. Just make sure the persons doing it knows what they're doing, as it is a chemical rearrangement of your natural hair, and can cause damage if not properly done.

No relaxing the hair is not permanent and will grow out in about 4 to 6 weeks, depending on how fast your hair grows. You don't say how old you are but relaxing the hair is a continuous thing, once you start and to maintain the style, it has to be done on a regular basis and this harms the hair tremendously. So, be careful and keep an eye on the roots, this will be your sign as to whether or not you need a touch up. God Bless.

1) yes, it is permanent. it is a chemical process that breaks down the bonds in the hair shaft to straighten the hair, the process is irreverisble. what people say is the relaxer growing out is your hair growing from the root, not the relaxer leaving the hair.

2) your hair would probably in better condition if you moisturized your hair properly. if you cannot moisturize your hair properly when it's natural then you should not get a relaxer. a relaxer dries out the hair and needs more moisture than natural hair. your hair has to be in good shape for you to get a relaxer %26amp; not have your hair fall out.

3) your hair is always growing, you just aren't retaining length
